Synopsis

ACTUALITY. Boer War. A long column of mounted troops fording a river (148ft).

Note: Lord Roberts took the surrender of Kroonstad on 12 May 1900. According to the Warwick catalogue the film shows: `Lord Roberts and Kitchener with Staff Officers entering Kroonstad at the head of the Mounted Column of Foreign Attach├ęs, Bodyguard and wagonette, in which are seated the Landdrost and other officials who went out to surrender to Lord Roberts ... Lord Kitchener is mounted on a White Charger, with an Indian officer riding beside him, on the right of Lord Roberts, and Sir John Hill Jones VC, on the left of the Commander-in-Chief'.
