Synopsis

INTEREST. Scenes of African life in the Congo.

Main title (5). A mother sitting on the ground and surrounded by baskets tends her baby. She has decorative scarring on her back (41). CU of man's head with scarring on the forehead (55). Another man's head, no scarring (73). Another man's head with scarring (92). A woman's head with scarring over the eyebrows in an arc and down the cheeks and nose; two further women with similar scarring (140). LS of men digging on a large mound of earth (160); closer view (190). Putting a thatched roof on a building, palm leaves are passed up on the roof, overseen by a European in topi on the roof and an African in khaki shirt and shorts on the ground (237). LS of workers carrying tools marching (soldier-like) to work; accompanied by European; closer view of the march as they pass the newly-built house (270). Outside a native hut; a family group sit around a cooking pot (289). A village scene, with huts and men sitting in chairs (328). A women tends to cooking outside a hut (358).
