Synopsis

ACTUALITY. Crowds around the entrance to the London Hippodrome awaiting the departure of Sir George White, the hero of Ladysmith from the theatre. He emerges in company with Mr Cook, the manager of the theatre, and is immediately surrounded by the enthusiastic crowd (48ft).

Note: Field-Marshal Sir George White defended Ladysmith during the Boer War from 2/11/1899 to 1/3/1900. He returned to the UK (Southampton) 14/4/1900.
