Synopsis

An athletics meeting, concentrating on the Nigerian athletes, at Hotspur Park for the annual Challenge Cup and a reception of the Nigerian paramount Chief the Oni of Ife.

Nigerians cross park and walk into changing block - their names are given by the commentator (103). Spectators paying entrance fee (107). Indian athletes (in turbans) giving autographs (116). Nigerians leaving changing rooms; sit on grass and change into running shoes (149). The pole vault event: a European competes; the Nigerian I.C. Ipete (?) is shown completing two vaults (181). "LONDON NIGERIAN WELCOME THE ONI OF IFE" (383). The reception for the Oni of Ife. Arrival in a hall where Nigerians (all are in traditional costume) prostrate themselves. The Oni is led into the assembly hall and takes his seat. Various speeches are given (non heard) including one by the Oni himself which is outlined in the commentary. Lord Milverton (?)
