Synopsis

Travelogue across part of South India with specific interest in the temples of the region. Both the beauty and the significance of the architecture is emphasised in a commentary set above an Indian score. Seen in the film are paddy fields near the town of Tiruchchirappalli; the Shiva Rock Temple and the streets of the town (a trading centre); the Srirangam Hindu Temple with its sculptured horses; the brick dam across the River Govaray (?), near Tiruchchirappalli, which controls the irrigation of 600, 000 acres; the temples of Madurai; the palace of Tirumalainaik, a wise benevolent and powerful 17th century monarch; and, finally, the Temple of the Fish Eye Goddess.
