Synopsis

Sponsored film showing building and civil engineering schemes in southern Africa.

The film begins in Lusaka, then Rhodesia, and travels through the country and Nyasaland (now Malawi) showing road construction in bush country, bridge construction, buildings for industry, commerce, schools and housing, and some of the life of the local people who comprise the labour force on these projects. It shows work at Kariba, in remote areas of the Zambesi, and the contrasting city life of Salisbury (now Harare). The film then moves to the then Union of South Africa, showing some of the cities and the gold mining industry.
