Synopsis

The Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia Command, Lord Louis Mountbatten, visits officers and men of 3rd Special Service Brigade on the Teknaf Peninsula on the Indo-Burma border.

Various views of Mountbatten inspecting troops (including a Commando guard of honour armed with Thompson submachine guns), panning views over the parade ground and footage of a pipe band playing. Troops marching off the parade ground.

Notes

3rd Special Service Brigade comprised 1 and 5 (Army) Commandos, and 42 and 44 Royal Marine Commandos, and was employed on amphibious landings in the Arakan under XV Corps. A few weeks after this inspection, 3rd Special Service Brigade would lead the landings on Akyab Island, which fell without a fight on 3 January 1945.
