Synopsis

Scenes of an Allied victory parade, mounted in monsoon weather in Rangoon, capital of Burma, on 15 June 1945.

Wide shot of a parade ground at Ragoon golf course. In the foreground are a number of lorries towing Ordnance QF 6-pounder anti-tank guns and a pagoda spire can be seen in the background. Flags of the United States and Republic of China can be seen. A number of QF 40mm Bofors guns on lorries. Ordnance QF 25-pounder field guns with lorries. Troops on parade are joined by further contingents who march onto the parade ground. A 25-pounder fires part of a 17-gun salute. A staff car arrives presumably carrying Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia Command. Panning shot over the parade with guns parked in the foreground. A column of parked vehicles in heavy rain. A number of parked self-propelled Bofors guns mounted on converted Morris Commercial C9/Bs; their turban-wearing Sikh gunners wrapped in their rain capes and waiting their turn to move. Troops waiting to take their place in the march past with sailors in the background and soldiers in the foreground. Troops marching past camera. Troops of 2nd Division march across shot. A unit of African troops. A unit of American troops, led by two flags and a pennant with two crossed pistols and marked '270 CO' so possibly a unit of US military police. They carry slung M1 Garand rifles with fixed bayonets. Jeeps pass camera, followed by Chevrolet CMP lorries towing 25-pounders. Reverse angle of guns passing.
