Synopsis

Marine Wilson plays the bagpipes to a laughing audience of Chinese children sitting on the bonnet of a jeep. Sweets are handed round; one marine has a kid riding piggyback. A laughing Chinese girl; camera tilts down to show she only has one leg. Pan across a group of kids getting sweets. A marine holds out a platter of sweets and biscuits for some children; they seem shy. A group of marines carry children round the garden on their shoulders. Two marines, named as Marine McKergie and Towell on the dopesheet, hold up three small children; two of them are wearing the marines' berets. Marines let off fireworks (Very lights and thunderflashes) to entertain the children.

Admiral Harcourt's car arriving outside the law courts in Hong Kong; a guard of honour from No.1 Army Commando presents arms. Harcourt and General Frank Festing, General Officer Commanding Hong Kong, inspect the guard. Interior footage from the court totally black and unusable. Harcourt leaving after the ceremony.

Royal Marine commandos befriend Chinese children at Tai Po orphanage in the New Territories, while Admiral Harcourt reopens the courts of law in Hong Kong.

Notes

According to the dopesheet Admiral Harcourt gave a speech to an audience of British and Chinese barristers, and civil affairs officers.
