ROAD CONDITIONS AROUND YAMBO (8/1/1945 (ca))

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: JFU 6).

Synopsis

Men of the 178th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, manhandling Ordnance QF 25-pounder field guns over muddy ground in Yambo, Burma.

Notes

Troops seen here are part of 36th Division and the dopesheet refers to the Sussex Regiment, therefore probably 72nd Brigade. At this point 36th Division (commanded by Major-General F W Festing) was part of Northern Combat Area Command (NCAC) under the American Lieutenant-General Daniel Sultan. NCAC was a multi-national force comprising Mars Task Force (American and Chinese) and two Chinese Armies (New First Army and New Sixth Army) in addition to 36th British Division.
