Synopsis

Amateur film shot by Gerald Selous as British Consul at Basra (1930-1932) and as Commercial Counsellor at Cairo (1933-1938) covers British Imperial Airways Hannibal, construction of dam at Jabal Awliya, White Nile, Sudan and arrival of British diplomats to present credentials at Egyptian Court.

Compilation reel starts with amateur film of model railway marked RMR in action (1930s), Epsom Racecourse scenes with gypsies and famous tipster Prince Monolulu (1930s film reduced from 35mm) before record of Selous personal travels begins. Selous baby son (GMBS) in Washington, DC with nanny outside Congress in Winter 1929-30. Trucial Coast forts and dhows.
