Synopsis

Amateur record shot by young Able Seaman Richard Carver, when serving on HMS Victorious in 1960-1962, records Gibraltar tourist scenes, passage through Suez Canal, and tourist scenes in Malta, Capetown and on RN recreation island Pulau Tioman (off Singapore).

Notes

Hi-8 and audio-tape commentary recorded by Richard Carver while viewing film at IWM on 26 March 1996. Films originally numbered 1 to 8 were viewed, commentated and simultaneously copied on Hi-8, but only reels 1 (KAY 559), 2 (KAY 560), 3 (KAY 561), 5 (KAY 562) and 7 (KAY 563) were acquired for preservation. This original numbering sequence, although not chronological, must be retained in order to preserve link with Hi-8 and audio-tape commentary.
