EUROPE TO SOUTH AMERICA ON THE GRAF ZEPPELIN AIRSHIP

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: MGH 4853).

Synopsis

Incomplete (professionally made?) record of a trip to Brazil by the Graf Zeppelin airship and thence to Chile via Argentina by aeroplane.

The film, taken mostly on board the airship, shows its progress from the Mediterranean, over Gibraltar and across the Atlantic from the African coast to Brazil where it terminates at Rio de Janeiro after making some stops on the coast. There are shots of passengers and crew on board the airship and of the eating and sleeping arrangements, as well as numerous views of scenery passing below. From Rio the film makers travel down the coast to Buenos Aires by aeroplane and then across the Andes to Santiago, Chile, at which point the film abruptly ends.

Notes

Technical: film in fairly poor condition.
