Synopsis

I. a. HMS Illustrious and King George V in Sydney Harbour are a "renewed reminder of Britain's naval might. Ornamental guncap sovereigns are fitted to the guns of the latter ship. A Hindu Midshipman on board "gives the Empire touch." Close up views of Admiral Rawlings and Rear-Admiral Vian, also of mascot monkey and bearded sailors. Demonstration of how Martlet is raised from lower deck and has wings unfolded. Docking of Illustrious in Captain Cook Dock. Caisson gates into position; giant carrier in dry dock. b. HMS Howe and HMNZS Achilles sail into Auckland harbour. 1500 sailors and marines parade ashore. HMNZS Gambia and HMS Howe on manoeuvres, firing a torpedo and ack-ack respectively.

II. "Randwick Races." Horses parade then race for Doncaster and Sydney Cup trophies. Winner's stake to Victory Loan.

III. "Hawkesbury Bridge links Pacific Highway." Final work on this "monument to Australian engineering skill" before tollkeeper arrives and first cars cross.

IV. "Mallee girls see the sea." One hundred girls from drought-stricken area of Victoria visit seaside and make sand-castles.
