Synopsis
ACTUALITY. Record of what is probably a Ropa dance by Koita from the village of Kido, almost certainly made at the "durbar" of the Central Division tribes, organised by Capt. Francis Rickman Barton in 1904 at Port Moresby, Papua. The dance, which is filmed in medium shot on an open lawn, with sea and peninsula in background, is performed by men and women, with drummers, and several native onlookers. At (15-19ft) a European in topee enters shot to pull a native to one side (33ft).
