Synopsis

Amateur footage of a journey which originated in Syria showing scenes in Egypt and the return voyage home to Britain.

Luxor, street scenes, temples the Colossi and the photographer, Cuthbert Wigham. Crossing the Nile. Sakkara, crossing the desert by donkey and camel. Cairo, the Mosque of Mohamed Ali, street scenes with minaret. Boats alongside a ship offering goods for sale at Port Said. Loading coals, leaving port, pilot leaves. Stromboli in eruption. Bonifacio in Sardinia. Deck tennis, deck quoits. Walter Lindrum and Tom Newman, billiard players, try to keep fit. Unloading on to lighter ship, cotton bales (?). The Rock of Gibraltar. Bay of Biscay scenes. Foredeck of P&O SNC's Noldavia. Tilbury and Thames barges. Coasting schooner. Tilbury dock and opening the bridge.
