Synopsis

ACTUALITY. Scenes at the leper colony supported by the Baptist Missionary Society at Cuttack in Orissa province.

Two men and two women walk through a wide gate above which an arch bears the sign "Cuttack Leper Asylum 1919" and a banner reads "We rejoice that thou who enter here need no longer abandon hope". Patients walking in the courtyard, patients receiving medical treatment, a man being examined. Distribution of food - a man uses a tin to measure rice (?) to each patient. A European, seated at a table, gives out coins or tokens. Women and children hold hands to form a large circle. Two Europeans supervise young girls playing a game. A group of boy scouts. Street scene in a large city where an open air prayer meeting is in progress (224ft).
