Synopsis

Scenes in Soho of Italian butcher's shop, the Isola Bella and Salonika Restaurants (38-58); behind Tottenham Court Road, French and Hebrew newspapers on a stand, French bookshop and laundry, chemist's, wine shop and cafe bar, shady Whitcomb Street, with a negro bar (72-112). Berwick Street with open-air market and stalls (192-213) contrasted with one off Whitechapel Road. Group of children playing in streets of Little Italy in Clerkenwell (247-300); studios of Cheyne Walk and little antique shops of Chelsea (316-348); on the Strand, New Zealand House (363-398) and Commissioner-General, Sir James Allen (382-398 - this section omitted in 5307 A; in 793 A); Australia House (403-432); Tower Bridge Road (448-458); Limehouse Pier (465-488). Strangers' Home for Asiatics-lascars sitting in courtyard. Medium close shots of a hair-cutting, two in Sunday best, and three in gala dress doing embroidery (504-589); Scandinavian Mission Hall (607-618) and vine-covered Scandinavian Temperance Home (633-642); streets of Chinese Pennyfields and Limehouse Causeway (765-786).
