Synopsis

INTEREST. Hippopotamus hunting in Upper Gambia.

Main title. A European hunter with native guides moves through the undergrowth. Two hippos are seen in the river. The hunter shoots and kills one of the hippos. The natives, once they have dragged the body to the bank, start cutting the skin. CU of the tusks. The skin is washed in the river (26ft).

Note: Although Alfred Machin filmed this type of subject for Pathé there is no evidence that he ever came to this part of Africa.
