Synopsis

Part 1. Sir John and Lady Edelsten arrive at Customs House. Inspection of combined Army and RAF guard of honour. Arrival at Customs House of His Excellency the Governor and Lady Creasy; the C-in-C and Lady Edelsten make their farewells and embark in galley manned by crew of his Flag Officers and Captains to be pulled to HMS Surprise. Surprise (wearing flag of C-in-C) proceeds down harbour and through breakwater; distant shot of her passing attendant submarines.

Part 2. Sea Furies (807 and 898 Squadrons) are catapulted off HMS Theseus for the flypast. Fleet seen in line ahead and turning together. View of ship's company fallen in on flight deck in readiness for "cheering ship". Surprise approaches and passes on the port side of Theseus. Ship's company give three cheers for Admiral and Lady Edelsten. Shots of ships including Theseus, Euryalus and Cleopatra and aircraft formations (Sea Furies and Fireflies from Theseus, Mosquitos and Sturgeons from RNAS Hal Far, RAF Lancasters and Vampires)

Part 3. Ceremony on the occasion of Admiral The Earl Mountbatten of Burma assuming command of the Mediterranean Fleet: His Excellency the Governor of Malta departs for HMS Glasgow, informal group of C-in-C, Chief of Staff, Captain of the Fleet and Captain of HMS Glasgow. Among others calling on the C-in-C are Vice-Admiral G A B Hawkins (Flag Officer, Malta), Vice-Admiral R A B Edwards (Flag Officer, Second-in-Command Mediterranean), Vice-Admiral F R Parham (Flag Officer Flotillas, Mediterranean) and the PM of Malta, the Honourable G Borg Oliver.

Ceremonial for the departure of the C-in-C Mediterranean from Malta.
