Synopsis

A party for British children onboard HMS Forth, submarine depot ship at Malta.

LA.LS from quayside to HMS Forth alongside - a huge Father Christmas figure has been erected as if in the act of emerging from the forefunnel. Two T Class submarines lie inboard of Forth, the streamlined HMS Tapir (S.35) and the other an unreconstructed boat. LA.MS of the Father Christmas figure, his right hand raised in greeting. Cut to mess deck, where the childrens' party is in full swing - all the children have paper hats and are busy eating. CUs of 'appealing' children eating. A Sub-Lieutenant talks to a little girl who smiles. Another small girl helps herself to a sandwich from a proffered plate. CU of a sailor who is blacked-up. CU of an ecstatically pleased small girl. The blacked-up sailor talks with two small boys. Father Christmas distributes presents on the quarterdeck beneath a canvas awning - a little girl is held up over the heads of the crowd to receive her present. CU of a small boy who has contrived to get his face dirty. Mother and child. A small girl has her finger in her mouth. A little boy sucks his thumb.
