ADMIRAL SERVAES MEETS INTERNEES IN SHANGHAI

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: ADM 1764).

Synopsis

Rear-Admiral Servaes and Captain Dick of HMS Belfast attend a service of thanksgiving in cathedral at Shanghai. The Admiral then visits the British internees at the Sacred Heart Hospital - a man demonstrates a wooden toy lorry within which is concealed a radio - some children look on, one little girl chewing on a biscuit. The children of the internees gather on the lawn - they are very English, and rather charming. A RN officer shows his camera to some boys who look through the view finder. Lieutenant RNVR talks with a group of small girls and gives his autograph. Admiral Servaes also talks informally with internees of all ages, and gives his signature.
