ROYAL MALTA ARTILLERY ANNIVERSARY; VISIT OF ARCHBISHOP OF NEW YORK

Synopsis

8 April 1943. The General Officer Commander-in-Chief of Malta, Major General W H Oxley, arriving and talking to Royal Malta Artillery (RMA) officers at the parade ground in Floriana. Lord Gort inspecting the units and talking to a Maltese trumpeter. March past of troops. Members of the RMA dring the King's health in beer.

16 April 1943. His Grace the Most Reverend Francis Spellman visits St Joseph's Orphanage. Standing in a crowd on the steps of Hamrun Parish Church. The Archbishop visits St John's Cathedral and blesses the crowds in the square. At War Headquarters he talks to Lord Gort and Sir Keith Parks, the AOC. He arrives at the dockyard in the Admiral's barge and is greeted by Admiral Superintendent K H L Mackenzie. Maltese workmen pay their respects. The Archbishop visits Senglea and talks to Maltese children.

Parade given by the Royal Malta Artillery on the first anniversary of the King's assumption of the Colonelcy in Chief of the RMA. The Archbishop of New York visits Malta.
