Synopsis

25 Sep. 1944. Sir Edmond Schreiber lands at Luqa Airfield to take over the appointment of Governor and Commander in Chief. He is greeted by Vice Admiral Hamilton and introduced to the heads of the services.

26 Sep. 1944. The new Governor arrives at Palace Square, Valletta and inspects a guard of honour comprising of the Army, Navy, Marines and the RAF. Views of the crowd and of the General leaving after the ceremony.

9 Oct 1944. Governor Schrieber tours the three cities with Mr Agius from the Clearance and Demolition Office. They visit the bombed church of Our Lady of Victory in Senglea. The Governor is introduced to officers of the 30th Northumberland Fusiliers. From his own launch he is taken around Valletta's Grand Harbour by Captain Pilditch, the King's Harbourmaster. The Governor finishes his tour at Fort St Angelo where he inspects a Royal Marine guard of honour.
