Synopsis

A long stretch of beach. Beach with rocks in the foreground. Tents among the trees and bushes. A man walks through the trees to his tent. Another man walks to his tent. Two men walk into the sports store and two others come out. The first two men come out again. Two men playing tennis on a tennis court. Horses lined up ready for riders at the stables. An RAF officer mounts his horse. A member of a tank crew mounts his horse. A group of riders in open country. Other men on horses ride along lanes between orange groves towards the camera. A party of sailors walking through the trees. They go up the brow of a hill.

Men walking in and out of the camp library. A New Zealand soldier gets his book checked by one of the ATS. Another ATS is checking files. The New Zealand soldier hands his book to the ATS. A soldier picks out a book, looks at the title and replaces it. He picks up another book and puts it back.

The men are Private Ferryman from Edgware of the RAMC (Royal Army Medical Corps) and Private Harper from Dudley. Panning shot from NAAFI sign to table and chairs. Men sitting in chairs. People going down to the beach. People swimming in the sea. A group of people sunbathing, one is Grace Hare from Eynsford, Kent, the first ATS woman on leave at Nathanya. She talks to two of the soldiers.

A New Zealand soldier comes up to a fire and puts more wood on it. Another soldier, Sergeant McGregor from Waitara, New Zealand, comes up to the fire, puts his hand in the pot and brings out potatoes.

People sunbathing in the foreground as others play deck tennis by the sea. A group of South African soldiers run in from the sea towards the camera.

Two men approach the information board at the camp and start reading then walk away. One of the men walks back into the picture, panning shot round to the information bureau.
