RAF film on the aircraft and role of Transport Command.

The film shows how aircraft such as the Bristol Britannia, Blackburn Beverley, Handley Page Hastings, De Havilland Comet and Armstrong Whitworth Argosy were used to provide transport for personnel and equipment between the United Kingdom and overseas bases such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Aden, through staging posts such as Gan in the Indian Ocean and Malta in the Mediterranean. The Command's war role is described and the route by which essential supplies, equipment and reinforecements would be moved to a war zone is illustrated. The use of helicopters such as the Bristol Belvedere, Westland Whirlwind and Bristol Sycamore in the tactical transport role is explained and other tasks of the Command, such as casualty evacuation, are also shown. Air crews are shown training in classrooms and a Britannia simulator, and men of the Parachute Regiment are shown training at the RAF's parachute school. The importance of 38 Group in the development and application of air mobility is also discussed.
