Synopsis

At Kalewa, on the River Chindwin in Burma, barrage balloons are positioned to deter low-flying enemy aircraft.

Balloon over the Chindwin. Jeep drives into shot; men climb out. The jeep is apparently towing a balloon. The balloon is untied and then tethered to an anchoring point. Cable unwinding; the balloon ascends and the camera tilts to follow. Tied back on to jeep. Balloon aloft. Jeep driving with balloon in tow. Close-up man holding mooring line. Operating hand winch. Balloon aloft at some height, seen through the steel structure of the bridge.Lorries passing. Looking through bridge girders as lorries and men pass.
