The Royal Newfoundland Regiment in billets at Berneville, Western Front, 9 May 1917.

A posed group of the regiment's officers, six lying down, at least eleven standing up. These include the commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel A L Hadow, and the second-in-command, Lieutenant-Colonel J Forbes-Robertson, who was in command on 14 April 1917 during the counter-attack at Monchy in the Battle of Arras. Also present is Lieutenant K J Keegan, decorated for bravery during the Monchy counter-attack. Rations are served out to the regiment in its rest billets.
