The marchers, in greatcoats and helmets, are very muddy. A considerably smarter marching column is passing the other way. The Newfoundlanders look as if they have just been taken out of the line, possibly after the Battle of Arras, in which they played a key role, May 1917.

Production: very probably British official film, but there is no firm proof of this or of date of filming.

Remarks: the film gives an excellent idea of the appearance and condition of troops just out of the line in a muddy sector.
