Synopsis

Unedited film of British, Indian and Australian forces, mainly playing various sports, Palestine Front, July 1918.

Australian troops practising bomb (hand grenade) throwing from slit trenches. The explosions are filmed at various angles and distances. The 'cup final' of 7th (Meerut) Division football championships, in which, (according to the shotsheet) the Royal Engineers team defeats the team from 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. Tel-el-Jelil, 13 July 1918. More sports at Beit Salem for GHQ, including a pillow fight over water, a test of lance skill on a wheelbarrow, bareback wrestling on horses, and running. Finally a British sentry silhouetted against a rising moon.

Remarks: the final shot of the sentry, although a clich, is nevertheless a very attractive one.
