Synopsis

The award of decorations to British and Indian soldiers in Kurkuch, Mesopotamian Front, 7-11 May 1918.

The British held Kurkuch only for a few days in 1918. This film shows British soldiers of 38th Brigade entering the town, followed by a number of soldiers being decorated by the commander of III Corps, Lieutenant-General Sir E G Egerton, in the square at Kurkuch, focusing on an Indian Cavalry officer at the end of the line. The film ends with more British troops marching into Kurkuch, and with a panorama of the town and the interior of the bazaar.

Notes

Title: this is taken from the shotsheet.

Remarks: if identification of the location as Kurkuch is correct then this is a most remarkable and valuable film, although entirely for the rarity value of its location, not for its content.
