Synopsis

General Sir Frank Messery, General Officer Commanding Malaya, opens a Bailey bridge built by Royal Indian Engineers of the Queen Victoria's Own Madras Sappers and Miners Group.

Looking down a double file guard of honour with General Messervy approaching. The guard presents arms and Messervy salutes. Messervy cuts the tape with a small pair of scissors. He walks along a line of sappers. Messervy stands on an earth bank to address the Engineers. Messervy's staff car crosses the bridge. A stone inscribed 'Built in Mar 1946/405 Ind Fd Coy RIE/QVO MADRAS S&M'.
