Synopsis

Part 1, shot by Sergeant Wilcox: High and wide shot from the Kallang terminal building; an RAF Douglas Dakota transport aircraft is taxiing. Dakota with reception committee and guard of honour of the RAF Regiment in the foreground. Stopford inspects the guard of honour. Guard of honour marching off towards camera. Stopford departing by car.

Part 2, shot by Sergeant Brown: Stopford's motorcade arriving at Tanglin Barracks. Wide shot with barracks behind and guard of honour of 1st Battalion Cameronians on parade. Stopford inspects the guard of honour, and then the pipe band. He returns to his car.

Part 3, shot by Sergeant Tulloch: Low angle medium close-up of Stopford saluting. Stopford talks with other officers at Kallang. He thanks the aircrew who flew him from Batavia to Singapore. He gets into his car.

Part 4: shot by Sergeant Gordon: Cameronian guard of honour presenting arms. Stopford inspecting. Pipe band playing. Inspecting the guard of honour and the band. He returns to his car. Cars departing. Band and guard marching off.

Notes

Stopford, who had previously been a commander of XXXIII Corps in Burma and commander of Allied Forces Netherlands East Indies, was replacing Sir Miles Dempsey.
