Synopsis

INTEREST. The quarrying and processing of clay to make bricks in Africa.

No titles. Pan left of village (10). Pan left of industrial complex, with water tanks, spoil heaps, smoking chimneys and factories (51). Pan right of processing plant by quarry (71). Pan right of workers' huts, largely roundavels, and a few rectangular huts (74). The mine head, a group of Europeans on a tour. Black workers leaving the mine head (96). Extreme LS of black (?) workers helping Europeans lay explosive charges in quarry. A series of small explosions (169). Black workers, with a black overseer dressed in a white uniform checking them, shovel material into small rail trucks (197). The start of an aerial ropeway with the sign `Adolf Bleichert Co. Leipzig Gohlis' (presumably the builder of the ropeway) (214). The ropeway in use; unloading from the ropeway (244). Shovelling material onto a conveyor belt (251). Pushing a rail wagon past a large wheel and grinding machinery (270). Pushing rail wagons along a track over storage tanks and depositing the contents in a tank (300). A large round tank where the clay (?) is ground (?) (316). Two blacks help a mule pull a wagon from a mine (328). CU of bricks with `OD Ltd.' printed on them (337ft)
