Synopsis

At an Indian General Hospital in Rome, Italy, Victoria Cross winner Kamal Ram visits patients.

A British lieutenant-general, wearing the patch of GHQ India, meeting an (Indian?) officer; another senior officer wears the patch of 4th Indian Division. The general inspects a guard of four Indian soldiers (tents in the background) he meets more (senior?) Indian soldiers. He addresses a group of Indian soldiers, with coniferous trees and tents behind. He shakes hands with a noticeably young-looking Indian soldier of 8th Indian Division. He walks with another officer through small trees. [77 ft] Outside an Indian General Hospital, Kamal Ram VC with three officers, two Indian and one British. Shaking hands with a lieutenant-colonel, commander of the hospital. Close-up of Ram, with his ‘8 Punjab’ shoulder title clearly visible. Interior; Ram reads a message of goodwill to a microphone. Notes

The first half of this reel is difficult to identify and does not appear to correspond to the dopesheet for this film. This item is on a composite viewing reel containing MWY 42-44, on which the separate reels of each item appear to be mixed up.

Series note: The MWY series of films is believed to be part of a ‘pool’ of film received by the Government of India from various sources, including South East Asia Command, the Indian Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate, the Ministry of Information, and from Allied governments.
