Synopsis

I. "The King with the Eighth." King George VI drives through Tripoli in a car with General Montgomery and afterwards along a road lined with troops standing to attention. During an inspection of an Indian Division the King presents a VC to a Gurkha officer, Lalbahadur Thapa. Other events reported are the knighting of Generals Montgomery and Wilson as well as the actual ceremony when Deputy Air Officer Commanding, Middle East, Air Marshal Linnell receives his knighthood from the King. Item concludes with King visiting wounded troops convalescing in Tripoli.

II. "Malta's triumphal hour." Crowds watch as HMS Aurora arrives in Valletta harbour with King George VI on board. After being received by the Governor, Lord Gort, the King is accompanied by the Catholic Archbishop of the island during a tour of a devastated area then visits Luqa airfield with Air Vice Marshal Park (just knighted) where he inspects the control tower. Crowds wave and cheer with great and seemingly never ending enthusiasm as the King drives through their midst and later acknowledges their acclamation from the balcony of the Palace, with the Governor beside him.
