Synopsis

Film shows the story of the men and aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific from Pearl Harbor to the recapture of Henderson Field on Guadalcanal.

Royal New Zealand Air Force has bases on several islands including Fiji and Guadalcanal as well as on the Fighting French colony of New Caledonia. Bases employ local manpower, as on Fiji where the natives are "eager to help men whose ideas of labour are not enforced with a whip". New Zealand ground personnel are seen at a camp and manning an operations room while their flying colleagues are on patrol, using a variety of planes including a Short Singapore III flying boat. Commentary emphasises New Zealand's growing share in the Pacific War and states that from her bases the war will be carried to the "power-mad Japanese". (Film also includes scenes of Bostons being bombed up.)
