Synopsis

Dramatised scene: Doctor and patient. The patient is now better unlike his father. The story of the father is told by the doctor. Dramatised scene: Family at home in village. The scene incorporates tips for reducing the risk of catching TB, eg. not drinking from the same cup. The father visits the the village medicine man who tells him the ingredients needed to make his medicine (incl. chickens blood). The potion is stirred and chanted over (238). But the disease has gone too far, he dies. The cemetary, funeral. The son coughing (275). The son falls ill and is on his sick bed. He shares food and the infection spreads. TB ward Health society meeting. A man gives advice to the audience. A nurse vists the son at home (386). He goes to a TB chest clinic for treatment. Scenes at the clinic. Waiting room. X-raying lungs. Blood test. X-rays shown. Schoolboys given BCG vaccination (it is not mentioned whether girls are vaccinated) (525). A nurse speaks of the importance of fresh air. TB sufferers cough into containers. TB sufferers use their own food bowls (625). Happy family scene outside hospital (650ft).
