Synopsis

I. India. Mountbatten, accompanied by his wife, arrives in Delhi to take over as Viceroy. Airport ceremonies (Nehru); Mountbatten visits his predecessor Wavell and is visited by Gandhi (conversation during walk in garden).

II. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. The Krupps factory at Essen: workmen breaking up for salvage the barrel of the 80cm giant gun 'Dicke Gustav'. b. Berlin, with 16 dailies, presented as a "Newspaper Paradise": film of the 'Telegraf' going to press; also publication of a book, 'Helden ohne Waffen'. c. A Frankfurt trainer and his bears perform in Heidelberg.

III. Death of Henry Ford: film of the lying in state, and an impression of Ford's achievements.

IV. "Bilder aus aller Welt." a. Eruption of volcano Hekla on Iceland. b. Byrd's Polar expedition returns to USA (sailors with penguins). c. Easter processions in Jerusalem. V. Frankfurt theatre's production of O'Neill's 'Mourning becomes Elektra'.

V. Sport. a. German heavyweight boxers Hein Ten Hoff and opponent in training for forthcoming match. b. German billiards championship. c. Frankfurt: race between motorcycle-paced bicycles.
