Synopsis

I. BERLIN. a. Arrival of millionth ton of the airlift, by RAF York to Gatow, also bringing Air Marshal Williams (special flag etc). b. Eastern Police put up barricades on sector borders. c. Berlin Conference of Western cities' mayors meets, chaired by Ernst Reuter. d. Paul Hindemith rehearsing as guest conductor with Berlin Philharmonic for a programme including some of his own work.

II. New Guinea "Jungle Sensation", Australian scheme to make shepherds of isolated tribesmen: large crowd watches as first sheep ever seen there are flown in.

III. Ruhr "the production graph climbs." Impressive and improving record of output in the Ruhr, stressing its importance for the recovery of Germany and all Europe, illustrated by impressionistic film of mining, ironworks, and coal being loaded into barges for export.

IV. Sport. a. FA cup-tie fever in England. b. The "Bombay Derby" in India. c. Major ski-jumping contest at Bischofshofen.

V. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. The rebuilding and reopening of the bridge carrying the Mittelland Canal over the Weser. b. Street dancing and float parades close Munich's Fasching and Rhineland's Carnival.
