Synopsis

I. BERLIN. a. Visit of Archbishop of York: met by General Bourne, visits army and airlift offices. b. USAF flies in Mercedes-Benz ambulances. c. Following non-recognition by East and West sectors of each other's currency, crews of trams on services crossing sector boundaries change conductors at frontier. d. Birth of a lion cub in zoo.

II. Dramatic film of a major waterfront fire in Oakland, California. Fire rages at night, with oil tanks exploding, day-light reveals extensive damage.

III. "Bilder aus aller Welt." a. Rome: an attempt to re-enact classical chariot racing. b. London to Brighton run for veteran motor cycles. c. Two men climb to top of spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna. d. Bahamas: high-diving from a cliff.

IV. Three examples of modern building methods (new materials and techniques dictated by shortage of other materials, need for speed and availability of technology).

V. The signing in Washington of the Atlantic Pact. Bevin makes a speech ("Democracy no longer a series of isolated units"), some of the delegates are seen signing, then President Truman enters and makes a speech.
