Synopsis

Singapore to Trincomalee. Naval expedition. Singapore harbour with anchored naval ships. Royal Navy frigate F107. Naval dockyard with floating dock. Royal Naval Aircraft Carrier at sea. Helicopters and Sciameters aircraft on deck. Taking stores from Auxiliary Cargo ship while in motion at sea and Carrier's crew stowing the stores on deck. Naval escorts exercising at speed. Arrival at Trincomalee with hoisting of Union Jack in front of paraded ship's crew on deck. Interior of Sri Lanka (post independence). Elephants boys washing their animals in stream. Wild life. Embankment of newly constructed Dam with area behind being flooded. Lady Selkirk feeding roadside elephants. Distant submarine off sandy coast.

Production / Donor Details: The Selkirk collection belonged the late Lord George Douglas Hamilton, 10th Earl of Selkirk from 1926-1987. Among many other appointments, the Earl of Selkirk was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1957-59, and UK Commissioner for Singapore & Commisioner-General for South East Asia from 1959-63.
